Molecular communications systems for data transmission in hostile environments

Warwick CUSP Exchange Professor Weisi Guo has created a novel molecular communications system for the transmission of data in environments where electromagnetic waves cannot be used, for example in underground structures such as tunnels or sewage pipelines. The results, published in PLOS ONE, demonstrate an approach of chemical signaling which could offer a more effective way of transmitting sensor data in hostile environments.
