WISC Student Runs Workshop in Latin America

Posted on June 18, 2019

Is it possible to localise the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) monitoring at the urban neighbourhood level? This question was the focus of a discussion session led by WISC researcher Philipp Ulbrich with community leaders from Medellín, Colombia. This interactive session was the first of a series of workshops hosted by the Autónoma Universidad de Latinoamérica as part of a UN SDG capacity building project with community representatives. The aim of these workshops is to create awareness about sustainability and resilience-thinking, for the leaders to critically incorporate these concepts into their work at community level and for city authorities and infrastructure providers to engage in discussion.

Philipp’s work is another example of how the research undertaken at WISC can benefit people and communities across the world and how the research can be used to help tackle the UN’s SDGs - the leading global research foci of recent years.

Philipp's work is funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (grant no. EP/L016400/1).
